Structural Engineer 3 (cleveland,oh)

This Project Manager position requires 15 years of experience in the civil/structural design, rehabilitation and evaluation of bridges along with the preparation of load ratings, construction documents, specifications and estimates. A Professional Engineer (civil) or Structural Engineer license in the state of Ohio (or other state with the ability to become licensed in Ohio through comity or reciprocity within 6 months) is required. Projects include new structures, as well as the rehabilitation or repair of Existing structures, for both roadways and railroads. Candidates will be responsible for the design of projects, monitoring and adhering to budgets and schedules, performing QC or QA reviews, and working with other staff in completing projects. Applicants must possess strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to travel for projects site visits and to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects. Familiarity with structural programs such as STAAD, BARS, MDX, and LEAP required. CADD experience is also a plus. Experience with Ohio Departments of Transportation PDP standards and requirements for structures is required.

1. Prepares or preferably directs; 1) preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for difficult projects. 2) Construction management tasks.
2. Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches.
3. Organizes and develops project team to execute specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, project design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and project inspection. Must be able to delegate.
4. Reviews project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
5. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and manpower, resolving engineering design problems.
6. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
7. Shows understanding of team management, develops project scope of work, estimating manpower needs, prepare CPM schedules, and tracks project progress.
8. Assures that the project is completed within the allocated period of time and within the budget that has been assigned.
9. Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside his organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
10. Develop and present proposals to clients in association with the Client Managers.
11. Directs the inspection of construction site to monitor progress and ensure general conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
12. Plans and executes project meeting. May negotiate a difficult project issue with the client, such as scope changes or schedule acceleration.
13. Assures the project meets quality control and quality assurance guidelines.
14. Interprets changes in the contract and advises management on needed changes.
15. May set up and perform a client marketing meeting.
16. Maintain professional, technical, and supervisory skills by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
