Description:
Designs and implements high performance Perl applications in a modular
architecture using CPAN and in-house developed Perl modules. Designs and
implements JAVA applications, scripts, and reports. Interfaces with
various databases and web interfaces. Designs database schemas and
maintain existing source code. Tests and debugs software. Gathers
software requirements and defines system specifications. Serves as member
of the Business Systems Team by contributing to the development of MCCS
business analysis tools, hosted on an open platform leveraging web based
technologies and open source utilities.
Required skills:
Four years of experience in development using Perl and/or JAVA. Ability to
develop customer packages using Object Oriented techniques, build complex
data structures using references, hashes and arrays. Demonstrated
experience working in a Unix environment. Experience using UNIX based text
editors and development tools. In depth knowledge of the latest J2EE
runtime, Oracle JMS message queuing, and Oracle PL/SQL. Skilled to perform
routine and recurring assignments, and identify and resolve issues and
problems in application software. Skill to evaluate and analyze existing
systems capabilities, compatibility, and interoperability.
Desired skills:
Familiarity with the following technologies is a plus: MySQL, Apache,
mod_perl, Mason, XHTML, XML and associated technologies, CSS, Javascript
and SQL. Candidate should display proficiency with XML data streams and be
comfortable with EDI-type flat file formats. Java Bean and network
programming are pluses.
