Description

The manager for Control Software Development will report to the Director of Control, Safety and Field Solutions in the HPS technology organization in Ft Washington, Pennsylvania. This global leader is responsible for the development and testing of Control Software within the Control organization. This new position provides organizational direction either directly or indirectly for software, processes and future strategy across the organization utilizing best practices and consistent development processes. Key focus for this leader will be in continuing to reduce defect backlog, while focusing on delivering quality products to our customers. Role Description: * Organize and direct development engineering team. * Oversee critical project activities, and effectively delegate and monitor other projects and tasks. Take ultimate responsibility for performance of the team. * Understand the HPS business strategy for Control Systems and work with Marketing Solutions on most effectively delivering control systems (Experion & PMD) based upon solution roadmaps. * Deliver programs and projects to Quality, Cost and Schedule goals by working with the HPS Technology Program Management group. * Work with the Functional Excellence Leader to deploy best practices for developing software. Support the deployment of HIP (Honeywell Iterative Process). * Work with the Customer Focus and Continuation Leader to incorporate lessons learned and enhancements to improve life-cycle efficiency and customer fulfillment. * Ensure all development is done in coordination with the System Engineering and the Global Architecture team to achieve systemness with all solution and roadmaps. * Manage all of the Control SW resources in Ft Washington and indirectly in Pune, Bangalore, and Kuopio. * Work with Technology Quality Assurance & Quality Test on the release of products.

Qualifications Qualifications: * Bachelors Degree in Science or Engineering * 7+ years Software development experience * 5+ years project leadership experience * MS in an engineering related field highly desired * Experience with new product development/HDIP process and strong process compliance culture * 10+ year’s software development experience with 7 years in team/project/program leadership. * Methodologies: Change Management, RUP - Rational Unified Process / Six Sigma * Advanced control theory or strong systems background desirable * Experience managing cross-functional/multi cultural teams, participating in strategic planning processes, and human resource development * A global mindset, preferably having worked with teams in more than one region. * Ability to build a world-class team through effective management, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and discipline when appropriate. * Leadership, self-starter, with excellent communication skill. * Proven ability to drive and successfully implement change across cultural and geographic boundaries. * Experience in Project management tools, technology transfer and Six Sigma. * Travel 10 - 20% * Ability to successfully manage resources and projects remotely. * Highly customer focused, able to influence and negotiate
