IWS has helped many Cornell units assess their needs, evaluate options, and manage their projects to achieve their goals while controlling costs and schedule, avoiding surprises, and making the best use of available resources. %0A %0AIWS designs and develops websites, web-based utilities, distance learning products, and multimedia elements. Depending on the needs of our partners, our products can be simple and streamlined, or complex, dynamic, interactive and feature-rich.%0A %0A Position Summary%0A As a team member in the Integrated Web Services (IWS) group, this 2 year term position will assist in the design process, development, and maintenance of a variety of web-based products at Cornell.%0A %0A Primary responsibilities include:%0A%0A * Implement web sites and services under the architectural guidance of senior IWS Developers.%0A * Design and develop databases for web applications. %0A * Identify, compare, evaluate, and recommend multiple technical solutions based on input from other team members. %0A * Collaborate with other CIT units for application administration. %0A * Research, evaluate, test, and recommend new or enhanced web products for integration into existing infrastructure. %0A * Communicate with non-technical clients on issues related to web technologies being used. Evaluate and implement new or upgraded web products. %0A * Partner with Senior IWS team members to assess needs and develop acquisition strategy for future software requirements to support web services.%0A!*! Requirements%0A%0A * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of experience and education in similar field.%0A * Course work in information technology and web development best practices and the ability to work/deploy in Unix/Linux environment.%0A * Fundamental knowledge of programming language concepts, variations of implementation, and ability to adapt to every changing demands of language fluency.%0A * Minimum 2 years experience in information technology support, including web development and application programming.%0A * Strong programming skills in ColdFusion, PHP, PL/SQL, Oracle, XHTML/CSS Java, JDBC, HTML, and Javascript and content management systems. %0A * Experience using UML Use Case modeling.%0A * Experience designing and developing relational database-driven Web applications at a departmental or institutional level. %0A%0A %0A Highly Desired%0A%0A * Experience in MySQL, Perl, Java servlets, and CGI development.%0A * Fundamental understanding of design patterns in the web environment.%0A * Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.%0A * Ability to assess multiple technical solutions, understand customer needs/requirements, and assist development team members in choosing an appropriate development path.%0A * Familiarity with project management methodology.%0A%0A %0A All candidates must be able to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline driven, complex, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities.
