Description: !*! This position reports directly to the Director of Cornell Development, and will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing the Prospect Assignment and Clearance process. Pipeline Manager will develop policies and procedures for assigning prospect interests and will develop the communications, documentation and training necessary to ensure that staff, across the division, understand and utilize the correct clearance process and procedures. The Pipeline Manager will stay informed of the status of campaign priorities, university priorities and college unit priorities and analyze the relative needs for prospects to support fundraising initiatives and goals. This includes identifying the number and type of prospects needed, gap analysis and conducting an ongoing evaluation and analysis of the current prospect pool. The Pipeline Manager will need to evaluate newly identified prospects to understand their primary and secondary interests; and strategically assign prospects to ensure there is a balanced approach to meeting the needs of central development and the college and units. Additionally, the Pipeline Manager will ensure that consensus is built between prospect managers regarding initiatives and solicitations for high level prospects before engaging prospects. The Pipeline Manager, in conjunction with a Prospect Steering Committee, will conduct a periodic review of prospects to ensure that priorities are being supported; review strategies to progress and promote prospects to the appropriate individual giving levels; and on an as needed basis, engage the committee to resolve any differences of opinion regarding prospect assignments.!*! Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree, with five to seven years of experience or equivalent. Must have strong interpersonal skills and have demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be able to work with a diverse group of people, within and external to the organization. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have demonstrated leadership abilities, and be able to build support and consensus. Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to exercise strong judgment and discretion. Must have demonstrated the ability to work with information that is personal and sensitive in nature, and maintain confidentiality. Must have strong analytical skills, have experience conducting needs assessments and be able to develop strategic plans. Candidate must have the ability to work at an advanced level with various desktop applications. Prefer experience in databases (Filemaker and Access), report writing applications (Brio and Brio Hyperion), networked informational system (PeopleSoft) and the internet. Knowledge of prospect management, volunteer management and major gift fundraising; and a minimum of five years of experience in institutional advancement is strongly preferred.
