Description: !*! This position will deliver first level IT support to the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE). The position will work with and understand the needs of the clients, which include faculty, students, and staff, in order for the department to achieve its academic mission. MAE is a large academic department located across four buildings and has 29 faculty, 22 staff, 140 graduate students, and 360 undergraduates. The position will provide day-to-day desktop support, network management, security audits, and updates. The incumbent will work as a member of the team of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) TechShop, with reporting to the ECE Computer Operations Manager, and provide additional IT support to ECE computer labs.%0A %0A The primary responsibilities of this position are:%0A%0A * Configuration, setup, and maintenance of the MAE desktop and server environment.%0A * Understanding departmental, college, university, and U.S. computer and network security requirements.%0A * Maintaining computer and network security, including regular self audits, adherence to University policy, complying with NY State and Federal laws/mandates, and working with others in the event of compromises.%0A * Assisting faculty computer and network research needs. Must have thorough knowledge of Linux security practices, such as network service configuration, file permissions, tripwire and other monitoring software.%0A %0A Recent experience with Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Active Directory, WSUS, and other Microsoft services. Must have thorough knowledge of basic and advanced MS Windows security practices such as managed Anti-Virus, software firewalls, Anti-Spyware tools, security audit software, and Service lockdowns.
