Description: Global Supply Chain Director May 22, 2008 Ithaca, New York Return to Search Results|Send job to a friend Description: Global Supply Chain Director JOB SUMMARY: This added position is responsible for developing strategic sourcing initiatives and identification of key offshore suppliers. This will include implementing sourcing strategies, analyzing global market trends and conditions and taking appropriate actions. The scope of the position will include every aspect of materials including the development, implementation and influence of supply chain strategies, best practices and tool sets in the disciplines of inventory management, forecasting, production planning, and procurement and supply chain management through multiple resources. Reporting to this position are the planning and procurement teams. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director, Global Supply Chain is responsible for establishing and developing critical sourcing strategies to assure supply quality, delivery and price competitiveness. The candidate will work closely with internal functions to achieve optimum supply chain solution in order to minimize the cost/risk and maximize efficiency, productivity, and time to market. In addition, the position will establish key working relationships with all other internal functions including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Quality and Finance, ensuring sourcing strategies/plans are aligned with the companys strategic direction. The candidate will insure proper documentation and compliance to all internal controls as it relates to purchase orders and requisitions in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley regulations. The position requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally. QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent should possess a Bachelors degree in a relevant field with10 years related experiencein a consulting, supply chain operations or manufacturing environment. Aminimum of 5 years of management experienceis required. Direct experience with international sourcing and strategic partner relationships is required. The incumbent must possess advanced analytical, planning and problem-solving abilities. The position requires the ability to exercise considerable judgment in identifying and solving complex problems associated with our business relationships and supply chain strategies. The incumbent must have superb leadership skills with a leadership style that mentors his/her team and engages and involves them in the success of the business. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written and the flexibility to operate well in a rapidly changing and often stressful environment. Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and objectives are required. The position requires a person who works in a meticulous and thorough manner, is an experienced communicator with suppliers, superiors and peers, and can effectively handle all situations. Excellent negotiating skills are required. Must be computer literate and have proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet programs and ERP software.
