Description: !*! 2 positions available%0A %0A Overview %0AThe Cornell Information Technologies (CIT) Data Warehouse Database Administrators (DW DBA's) Team is responsible for data warehouse technical architecture planning and implementation for Cornell University. %0A %0AJob Description %0AWe are looking for demonstrated experience in data warehouse design, deployment and support with a focus on the DBA role. Provide leadership in Oracle RDBMS technology, performance tuning, and establishing best practices. Work with analysts and business area subject matter experts, including managers and executives to translate operational, decision support and EIS information requirements into logical and physical data models. Plan and manage the implementation of data marts and data warehouses that satisfy those requirements. Support the evolution of those data repositories as business information requirements change. Mentor less experienced staff in best practices. %0A %0A!*! BS or equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience in data warehouse design, deployment and support with a focus on the DBA role. Position does participate in a 7x24 on call rotation. Candidate must have minimum 5 years of Oracle DBA experience, Oracle RAC experience desirable. Able to interpret customer specifications and implement project plans for satisfaction of requirements. Maintain currency on industry best practices, and apply them to projects at Cornell. Work with analysts both within and external to CIT to develop solutions for the university. %0A %0A Provide leadership in Oracle RDBMS technology, performance tuning, and establishing best practices. Using Oracle technologies provide proactive monitoring to ensure high availability, performance, and throughput for data warehouse environments. Candidate should have experience with Oracle datawarehouse technologies, implementation projects, SQL tuning and replication technology. Candidate should have a good understanding of physical database design. Candidate should have experience with data modeling and Kimball methodology. %0A %0AStrong oral and written communication skills including ability to obtain and convey complex technical/service information to others of varying levels of technical knowledge and responsibility essential. Must be able to work effectively and proactively in a dynamic, deadline driven, complex, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities. Must be able to demonstrate ability to work well with team members and assume individual responsibilities within a team. Must have strong documentation skills, being able to clearly and concisely explain complex technical issues in written and diagram format. Must have well-developed problem-solving abilities, analytical, reasoning and judgment skills. Responsibilities require tact and diplomacy with a flexible and positive approach.
