Clinical veterinary medicine: Routine rounds, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring progress of sick animals (laboratory animals, dogs, cats, cows, pigs, sheep, poultry, horses, birds, reptile, amphibian and fish); instruction of animal caretakers and research staff regarding care and treatment; health monitoring procedures. Assist in teaching/mentoring of students in the Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency training program. Coordinate/mentor veterinary students during rotations/externships with CARE. Advise on research involving animals. Assist with IACUC-mandated training programs. Review IACUC protocols. Supervise veterinary technician in charge of animal well-being. Must have good working knowledge of AWA, AWAR, PHS policy, Guide to Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, The Guide for the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Agricultural Research and Teaching, state regulations and other applicable laws, regulations and guidelines governing laboratory (including agricultural) animal care and use. Superior verbal/written communication skills. Service-oriented. Self-motivated. Ability to motivate others and work in a solid team environment. Desire to teach/instruct.
