Description: !*! New York Campus Compact (NYCC) seeks an AmeriCorps* VISTA Program Coordinator to lead, guide and support up to 30 NYCC-VISTA projects led by VISTA members, and to supervise the work of two VISTA Leaders. NYCC-VISTA members are based at higher education institutions across New York with a focus on building the capacity of their host institutions to address poverty in their communities. %0A %0A In this role you will:%0A%0A * Contribute to state and national initiatives to improve policies and practices regarding poverty issues positively impact local communities through efforts to alleviate poverty%0A * Build mutually-beneficial and collaborative relationships between campuses and their communities%0A * Increase the numbers of college students involved in community service, service-learning or civic engagement activities aimed at the alleviation of poverty%0A * Increase the awareness of service-learning in college courses at host sites%0A * Deliver leadership development and management experience for VISTA members%0A * Sustain and expand future campus/community and civic engagement efforts%0A%0A The Program Coordinator will provide supervision, training, evaluation and compliance reporting for all sites, administrative support for the VISTA grant, and oversight of project budgets. The Program Coordinator: (a) reports to the Executive Director of NYCC; (b) works closely with the NYCC Office Manager on administrative/fiscal matters; (c) provides daily supervision for two VISTA Leaders; (d) is responsible for sustaining relationships with VISTA members and their host sites; (e) maintains relationships with the NY Community and National Service/National Corporation for National and Community Service offices and current and prospective affinity organizations, potential partners and funding sources.%0A %0AThis is for a 35 hour per week, 12 month term position (grant funded).!*! Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline with two years experience with community service program development, community-based learning, and/or non-profit organizations or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Ability to interact with diverse multicultural populations, community groups and leaders, and campus constituencies- students, faculty, staff, presidents. Working knowledge of community service/community development best practices. Skills in evaluation, training, and assessment. Supervisory experience - leadership development and management experience. Independent worker, capable of taking initiative and seeing projects through to their completion. Ability to work collaboratively, ability to acquire group support and direct to direct the group through projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Facility with standard computer software, email, databases, spreadsheets, statistical analysis and internet. Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks effectively, and take initiative.Must be able to conduct site visits throughout the state; occasional overnight travel, weekend, and evening work is required. Insight into personal and organizational dynamics, analysis of long-range planning, and ability to juggle several agendas will be critical. Valid drivers license.%0A %0A Master's degree desirable. Two years experience with Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, CNCS or other service programs preferred. Grant writing experience preferred.
