Primary Function: Initiates and designs vacuum interrupters, which meet customers’ requirements for form fit and function. Research alternative designs, which will expand the performance of current designs and develop new designs to meet anticipated market needs. Develops new vacuum interrupter design concepts. Initiates and performs vacuum interrupter R&D. Duties: Supports & Leads in developing new vacuum interrupter designs. Works with customers to apply Eaton vacuum interrupter designs in customer mechanisms. Responds to customer technical questions. Communicates with Eaton marketing, research, production, and development engineers as well as the customer’s design engineering personnel. Designs devices which meet the performance objectives required. Evaluates materials and processes required to meet the quality, performance, and cost objectives. Implements manufacturing specifications for new vacuum interrupter designs. Plans and coordinates projects using Pro Launch to meet specific time and production requirements. Evaluates the design performance and modifies the design if required. Provides technical assistance and consultation to transfer developmental designs to production. Reports via technical memos and or presentations latest engineering developments. Maintains a good working knowledge of and operates high-level computer software such as CAD, ProE, Autocad, Ansoft FEA Programs, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. Addresses unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and hazards and supports MESH.
