Angelini - Departments 448/449/454/702/737. Locations: Groton, CT and Newport, RI. Combat Systems Engineers apply highly diversified skills to produce Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) for US Navy nuclear submarines. Leveraging the latest in state-of-the-art technologies, NPES systems are provided for Sonar, Combat Control, Ship Control, Total Ship Monitoring, Tactical and Non-Tactical Data Processing, Exterior Communications, Navigation, ESM, Radar, Imaging, Periscopes, Weapon Launch Control, and Weapons Shipping and Handling, as well as shipboard and land based trainers. Engineering opportunities range from initial system design through development, hardware/software integration, test, delivery, and integration of the systems aboard nuclear submarines. For delivered submarines, enginering efforts extend to the analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues, and implementation of NPES modernization programs. Tactical Software Engineers are responsible for the innovative computer technology and computer software used in the design and development of control systems for operating shipboard equipment. Engineering opportunities are available for entry level engineers in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical disciplines. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical disciplines is required. Zero to three years experience relevant to job description. For electronics engineering, experience designing and building digital and analog systems is required and experience in the latest programming languages is desirable. For software engineering, experience developing graphics, simulations, and interfacing with electronics is desirable. Networking knowledge is a plus for electronics and software engineers.
