Desert Star Construction, Inc. is a General Contractor
specializing in negotiated high-end custom residential projects.
 100% of our client base is business owners or heads of
publicly held corporations. The majority of projects are
constructed within Paradise Valley, Arizona ranging from
10–25,000 livable square feet and $3-13,000,000 in construction
cost.  We will be moving into new Scottsdale offices in
November and are looking to expand within our existing market.
<br> <br>We are seeking an experienced Estimator: <br> <br>1.
Duties include reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to
determine and write scope of work and required contents of
estimate, prepare disciplined estimates by calculating complete
takeoff of scope of work, maintain files of working documents as
back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate)
information on prices from suppliers and trade contractors.
<br>2. Review design options and make recommendations for best
solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of
materials. <br>3. Skills and Traits required: A bias for action
with confidence; multi-tasking and prioritization; detailed;
team-oriented, excellent communication skills; holds a strong
work ethic and enjoys the work, process, and those you work with.
  <br>4. Core competencies with Excel and Word (Master
Builder and Microsoft Project preferred but not mandatory).
<br>5. A complete understanding of the pre-construction process
including estimating, value engineering, managing/coordination
with architect/design consultants/trades/client, scheduling,
field operations, and track time and budget performance. <br>6.
Reviews contractual documents and contract modifications to
determine scope of work and scope changes. Must be able to lead
our clients from conceptual estimating through bid process,
contract negotiation, and change orders. <br>7. Participates in
client presentations, as required. <br><br><br><B>Requirements:
</b><br>-Three or more year’s employment with current or
previous employer. <br> <br>-This position requires a 4-year
degree from an accredited program in Construction Management,
Construction related engineering field, or equivalent
combinations of technical training or experience. Three plus
years of estimating experience and knowledge of techniques and
cost control preferred. <br> <br> <br><br>
